The name "DakhaBrakha" means “give/take” in the old Ukrainian language. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, and Ukrainian traditional instrumentation, the quartet’s astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture.

Drawing from Rafe Pearlman’s experiences growing up in the Alaskan wilderness, Kanu is an immersive multidisciplinary performance. Featuring Pearlman’s lush and dynamic vocals, in collaboration with world class guest musicians, Daniel Berkman http://www.danielberkman.com and Richard Sherwood https://www.drumdala.net, Kanu takes you on a journey into a wild and interactive landscape of song, soundscapes, visual installations and storytelling.

I will be joining Molly Knight as a guest teacher for one of her Sound Camp experiences this summer on the beautiful San Juan Island. If you are interested in sound healing, sound therapy and creative voice expression this retreat could be for you. :)
Last summer I got intel from a dear friend about the local Orca whales and we were able to field trip and chant to the Orcas, who came right up to say hi...it was mind blowing. Spending the intimate time together at the tepee, around the fire and meals was precious. I hope you might join us!
Participants are limited to 8 for all Sound Camp groups :)

Blooming Heart : Orcas Island Festival
A dream was born 14 years ago in a small ravine on a remote island in the Salish Sea. On that day a group of friends gathered together to dance and celebrate for the first Blooming Heart. The event is a descendent of the tribal gatherings from ancient times. A place where kindred spirits and smiling hearts reunite with long lost friends. Blooming Heart is a place of respect, a place where each of us can feel safe with a sense of community. It is a gentle place of nature, music and art.
The community that formed through Blooming Heart has gone on to create the Imagine Music & Arts Festival as well as the Imagine Convergence conference.
